Earth Rotation: How It Affects Us?

Without rotation, one side always get sun, other side always dark. That mean one place always hot, other place always cold. Life will not survive like this.
2. Sunrise and Sunset
Earth spin from west to east. So sun look like it rising from east and going to west. But actually, sun is not moving. Earth is moving. That’s why we see sunrise and sunset every day.
3. Time Zones
Different places on Earth have different times. Why? Because Earth is big round ball. When it is morning in Pakistan, it is night in America.
This happen because Earth rotate. That’s why we have time zones in different countries.
4. Wind and Weather
Rotation also help in making wind and weather. There is something called Coriolis Effect. This effect change the way wind move.
Wind don’t go straight. It bend a little because Earth is spinning. So weather patterns change. Cyclones spin different in north and south because of this.

Like wind, water in ocean also move. Earth rotation help in making ocean currents. These currents take warm water to cold places and cold water to warm places.
This keep Earth temperature balanced. So no place get too hot or too cold.

Main reason of tides is moon. But Earth rotation also play small part. It help water move around. So tides come on time.

Because Earth is smooth and steady. It rotate always at same speed. And we move with it. Like in a plane. If plane fly smooth, you don’t feel you going 900 km/hour.

Yes, but very slowly.
Earth rotation is slowing down. Very small amount. Maybe 1 or 2 milliseconds every 100 years. That mean day is becoming longer very slowly. But don’t worry, it take millions of years to see big change.
