Why Sun Looks Red at Sunset?

Now listen careful here. When sunlight come straight in day time, it go fast and straight to our eyes. But in evening, the sun is very low. So, the sunlight must travel longer path in the sky.
The blue color in sunlight gets scattered more. It means, blue light goes here and there. It don't come to our eyes. It run away in the sky. Only the red and orange light can pass far distance and reach to our eyes. That’s why sun look red or orange in evening.
This thing is called Rayleigh Scattering. But don’t worry about big name. Just remember — blue light runs away, red light stays.
Long Distance in the Sky
When sun is up in the sky, like 12 o’clock, it is just above our head. Light come down in straight line. But at sunset, sun is almost on the side. So light come in slant way, very long path.
In this long way, blue and green color gets lost, and only red color stay strong. That’s why we see red.
So, in simple, longer distance = more red.
Why Sunset is So Beautiful?
Now you may think, okay sun is red, but why it look so beautiful in evening? Sky also become red, orange, pink. It look like painting in sky.

In some places, sunset look more red, like in big cities. This is because of pollution. More dust, more smoke in air, so more light gets blocked. Only red light can pass, so sun look very red, sometimes almost dark red.
It is pretty, but not healthy. It show that air is dirty.
Sunrise is Same Like Sunset
Sunrise also have same effect. In morning, sun is low again. So same thing happen. Blue and green light scatter, and red light come to eyes.
But people don’t see sunrise much, because they still sleeping 😴.
